Welcome! Community Development is a multi-functional department responsible for administering Village building, zoning, development and sign codes. In addition, both long range planning and economic development initiatives are pursued and related programs and projects are managed by the department. Services provided by the department include plan review, permit issuance, and construction inspectional services.
At the core of the department's work is to retain Lincolnwood's distinct character and attractiveness as a place to live, work and shop, while enhancing Lincolnwood's future for our children. This page provides useful information and resources about the community and property in the Village, building, zoning and development codes, as well as Village permit and inspection requirements.
At the heart of Community Development are citizens who are dedicated to the community and volunteer their time and expertise. Several citizen boards have been established to provide recommendations to the Village Board. These include the Plan Commission, Zoning Board of Appeals, and Economic Development Commission, as well as various task-oriented committees, such as the Lincoln Avenue Task Force and Streetscape Committees. The department provides technical expertise and staff support to these citizen-led volunteer groups who generally meet monthly with agendas posted on this website and in Village Hall. Lincolnwood values citizen input in community development. Comments are invited and all meetings are open to the public. |
