Earlier this month, the Metropolitan Water Reclamation District of Greater Chicago (MWRD) began work on its North Side Sludge Pipeline Replacement project. For the first section of this project, construction crews will utilize heavy machinery to install a new large-diameter pipeline within Centennial Park between Howard Street and Devon Avenue. Please proceed with caution when entering Centennial Park. Pedestrian access will be allowed during construction. However, the
existing location may be altered in certain areas and replaced with a temporary stone path. The first section of the project is estimated to be completed in spring 2023. The second section of this project will involve the same work as the first section and will take place along Devon Avenue from McCormick Boulevard to Cicero Avenue. The entire project is expected to be completed in December 2023.
Noise from the work being done for this project will be audile during construction hours (7:00 am to 5:00 pm). Temporary traffic control will also be set up along McCormick Boulevard and Devon Avenue. Questions and concerns regarding this project can be directed to Joel Kennedy Constructing Corp. at 847-360-8080.
