The Village has completed resident surveys to verify the material of water service lines throughout the community, in accordance with the Illinois Lead Service Line Replacement and Notification Act. As part of this effort, Christopher B. Burke Engineering, Ltd. developed a Water Service Line Material Survey to assist the Village in identifying service line materials and planning for future replacement where necessary.
Residents whose service line material was previously identified as unknown received letters requesting completion of the survey. The survey takes approximately five minutes to complete and helps confirm:
- The location of the water service line inside the home
- The material of the service line
- Documentation needed to support future replacement and interior restoration
- Photographs of the service line were required for verification purposes and to ensure accurate recordkeeping.
Ongoing Annual Notifications
In accordance with state regulations, addresses with known lead service lines will continue to receive annual required notifications from the Village. These notifications provide important information about lead in drinking water and the Village’s ongoing replacement efforts. The Village remains committed to maintaining accurate records, complying with state law, and proactively planning for the safe and efficient replacement of lead service lines throughout Lincolnwood.
