Have expired or unneeded medications just sitting around the house? Stop by the Lincolnwood Police Department and drop them off in the grey Prescription Drug Drop Box located in the lobby vestibule.

The Prescription Drug Drop Box is in collaboration with the Cook County Sheriff's Office and is accessible 24-hours a day, seven days a week. By disposing of your unneeded or expired medications in this manner, you are helping protect the environment and helping prevent drug abuse. Never before has safe, secure and environmentally responsible disposal been so simple.


Acceptable Items

Accepted items include prescription medications, pills, all over-the-counter medications, medication samples, and pet medications, as well as vitamins and supplements. 


Not Acceptable Items

Please note that this program does not accept liquids, gels, needles/sharps, syringes with needles, thermometers, IV bags, bloody or infectious waste, personal care products, empty containers, and hydrogen peroxide. Sharps can be disposed of by visiting the Lincolnwood Fire Department during public hours. Questions can be directed to 847-673-1545
